Donkey Kid has secured a deep place in the hearts of the young indie music scene with his sound that combines classic Beatles references with 80s synthpop. Like many of his peers, the twenty-year-old from Berlin, Steglitz started producing music in his own bedroom. His songs quickly gained attention on Soundcloud, leading to an invitation from the Montreux Jazz Festival, Reeperbahn Festival, Eurosonic and media outlets like KEXP began to take notice of Donkey Kid.
