Portland, Oregon multi-instrumentalist Graham Jonson creates vibrant, unpredictable psych-pop under the name quickly, quickly. Pitchfork spotlighted him with a Rising feature for his “strikingly original” 2021 debut The Long and Short of It, noting the“technicolor world” of his basement studio, Kenton Sound. His forthcoming full-length, I Heard That Noise, channels the intimacy of folksongwriting through adventurous sound design: lush guitars and piano, suddenchord turns, and bursts of distortion that nod to influences like Phil Elverum, Dijon,and Nick Drake. The music moves from gentle ballads to explosive crescendos,always anchored by Jonson’s instinct for melody and atmosphere.
